Meet the Flight 4SB, a signature ukulele designed through a collaboration of Flight and ukulele artist 4stringboy. The 4SB takes a popular pairing of tone woods and dresses it up for the modern player. Combining a solid spruce top with a solid rosewood body, the Flight 4SB has a loud, crystal clear tone that stands out when you play it. Sammy Turton (4stringboy) wanted the ukulele to be dressed in black, which is why the Flight 4SB has a gloss black top, black tuners, black bridge pins, and a first for Flight—a black deluxe gig bag. The ukulele also features some natural elements, such as a gloss finish on the rosewood body that reveals its natural grain, as well as the rosette, cutaway, bindings, fret markers and headstock which are finished with caramel swirls of spalted maple.

We paired a solid spruce top with solid a rosewood back and sides to achieve a sound that is both deep, warm and rich in the mid and lows as well as providing a clarity and projection in the high end. This is a very common combination of guitar tonewoods that works incredibly well on this tenor ukulele.

The neck of the Flight 4SB is made of African mahogany. It is strong and smooth, adding to the warm tone of the Flight 4SB. The fretboard is made of rosewood, a beautiful, strong, and hard wood that can add warmth to the sound of an instrument while lessening harsh higher frequencies of an instrument.

Bone compensated saddle and pin bridge
The Flight 4SB features a rosewood bridge, as well as a real bone nut and a compensated saddle. Compensated saddles help to properly set the intonation of each string. The Flight 4SB includes a pin bridge system, which helps keep the strings properly aligned on the ukulele, as well as to create a break angle over the saddle that transfers vibrations efficiently to the soundboard of the ukulele.
