Death's Door is an action game shown from an isometric perspective, the most important element of which is the exploration of inhospitable worlds and fighting enemies. The production has a very vivid graphic design and was created by a small studio Acid Nerve.
The story of Death's Door takes place in a world where The Ravens form well-organized communities and are divided according to their responsibilities. The main character's job is to find the souls of the dead in the world behind the Gate. Despite the monotony of this activity, he likes it very much. Things get complicated, however, when an unknown thief steals one of the souls and begins to flee with her through a land full of old, power-hungry beings.
During the plot, we will meet many powerful opponents, with terrible titans at the forefront. Each of them has their own history and motivations according to which they act. In addition, we also learn the truth about the role of The Raven in moving souls, and the narrative is infused with black humor.
The whole game is based on arcade combat and exploration of the available levels. We observe everything from an isometric perspective, except for a few staged cutscenes.
During the clashes, Raven mainly uses his short sword, but he can also use magic ranged attacks. In addition to landing blows alone, we also avoid enemy attacks by performing rollovers at the right moment. Enemies in the Raven's path take various macabre shapes, depicting the horrors of the land of the dead. We will face not only doll-like ghosts or monsters that look like grown frogs, but also powerful mechanical locks firing lasers or "knights" formed from interconnected fragments of scrap metal. They were divided into ordinary, serial enemies filling locations, and more difficult-to-defeat bosses with unique attacks and behaviors. Each of them is associated with a little story, expanding the lore of the game world and allowing you to look at the main story from a different perspective.
A simple system of improving our character has also been implemented in Death's Door. Thanks to the experience points gained, we improve the Raven's statistics or improve the operation of specific skills.
