The Danish designer Verner Panton(1926-1998) was a leading and significant part of the absolute heyday of Danish furniture design. Panton had close relations with both Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner and Poul Henningsen, whose expression and design language, as is well known, are known and loved by people all over the world. Despite Verner Panton being part of the important mid-century of Danish furniture design, his expression and design philosophy were far from the simple one practiced by his Danish and Scandinavian colleagues. His expression was provocative, playful, futuristic but also full of personality. The passion for exploring the possibilities of unconventional material types and flashy colours was an essential part of the DNA of many of his sculptural works. Verner Panton's many iconic and playful expression are still extremely popular in Danish and foreign homes today.
