Team Sports Training The Complexity Model

Team Sports Training The Complexity Model

Team Sports Training: The Complexity Model presents a novel approach to team sports training examining football (soccer) rugby union field hockey basketball handball and futsal through the paradigm of complexity. Under a traditional prism these sports have been analysed using a deterministic perspective where the constituent dimensions of the sportsmen were independently examined and treated in isolation. It was expected that the body worked as a perfect machine and once all the components were maximised the sportsmen improved their performance. If the same closed recipe was applied to all of the players who formed part of the squad the global team performance was expected to be enhanced. As much as these reductionist models seem coherent when contrasted in practice we see that the reality of team sports is far more different from the closed conditions in which they were idealised. Team sports contain variable heterogeneous and non-linear constraints which require the development of a different logic to organise their training. During the last few years ecological psychology the dynamical systems theory or the constraints-led approach have opened interesting fields of research from which many conceptual foundations can be applied to team sports. Based on this contemporary framework the current book presents the study of the players and the teams as complex systems using coordination dynamics to explain the emergence of the self-organisation episodes that characterise them. In addition this thinking line provides the reader with the ability to apply all of these innovative concepts to their practical training scenarios. Altogether it is intended to challenge the reader to re-think their training strategy and to develop an original theory and practice of training specific to team sports. | Team Sports Training The Complexity Model

The Preston Model and Community Wealth Building Creating a Socio-Economic Democracy for the Future

Through a deep examination of what has become known as the ‘Preston Model’ this book explores an innovative approach to local economic development that utilises economic democratisation to realise both social and economic objectives. The first part of the book examines the main strands of the Preston Model framework and what makes it different to other urban regeneration schemes: the combination of local anchor institution procurement to generate and retain local wealth and the development of cooperatives to fill gaps in local supply chains. The chapters in this section consider the Preston Model as viewed through different lenses: politics and society community economics democracy trade unionism language and communication education and transferability. The second part explores the influences and applications of the Preston Model in theory and practice in selected locations and various circumstances worldwide. This includes discussion of key ideas such as economic democracy social enterprise and the creation of capacity for cooperative self-government alongside essays on prominent international examples of similar approaches which can inform and in turn be informed by the Preston Model. This book is essential reading for those interested in regional and national policy economic democracy and alternative economic and political ideas. | The Preston Model and Community Wealth Building Creating a Socio-Economic Democracy for the Future

The GoFaSt Guide To Screenwriting The Goals Failures and Stakes Model of Narrative Storytelling

The GoFaSt Guide To Screenwriting The Goals Failures and Stakes Model of Narrative Storytelling

Creator of the GoFaSt Model author Greg Takoudes introduces a comprehensive study of the structural models of screenwriting and provides readers with an adaptive framework for writing successful scripts. With a new approach which reframes discussions and offers alternatives to students and writers who find conventional models creatively constricting Takoudes draws from both teaching and professional experience to provide a new model of screenwriting that is designed to be adaptive to various types of scripts. The book is structured in three parts. First it introduces the GoFast Model – allowing for less orthodox writers to keep their unique voices by breaking scripts down into smaller parts and encouraging more flexibility to write in an organized way without feeling stifled. Second the book explores several writing scenarios – featuring the practical uses of the model and a step-by-step script structure spanning chapters on a horror superhero and heist movie. Third it concludes with detailed case studies exploring how the GoFaSt Model can be applied to break down scripts including Get Out The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and Portrait of a Lady on Fire. It is an ideal text for screenwriting students and aspiring screenwriters interested in learning how working writers put structural models into practice as well professional screenwriters producers and development executives looking for new ways to think about writing feedback and development. | The GoFaSt Guide To Screenwriting The Goals Failures and Stakes Model of Narrative Storytelling

Using a Competency Development Process Model in Higher Education A Practical Guide

Using a Competency Development Process Model in Higher Education A Practical Guide

What if educational programs designed curriculum with the end in mind teaching and assessing only the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the workplace and broader life applications? Competency-Based Education (CBE) provides an answer to questions such as this one that key stakeholders such as employers learners parents and educators are asking. In this book the authors offer a Competency Development Process Model (CDPM) with unique features that emphasize the interdependence of competencies assessments and a robust learning journey within a fully developed career pathway. Two case examples are used throughout the book to contextualize the CDPM. There are seven steps of the model: ·Step 1: Define the Problem·Step 2: Establish the Competency Framework·Step 3: Draft the Competency Statements·Step 4: Establish Competency Measurability·Step 5: Develop Competency Assessments·Step 6: Adopt and Implement Competencies in Learning Journey and Credentialing Systems·Step 7: Evaluate Impact Over TimeThe model addresses the importance of situating competencies within a professional learning context using a backward design approach. In doing so the model aims to elevate the work of designing competencies from merely developing a list of expectations to in-depth analysis and design with the goal of developing competencies that can be readily used for assessment and career pathway development. Each step in the CDPM is treated as a chapter and each chapter identifies the central question that must be answered provides an overview of the tasks in the step and illustrates the steps in action through the two case examples. Each chapter concludes with “Your Turn”—guiding questions for the reader to apply the step to their own context. | Using a Competency Development Process Model in Higher Education A Practical Guide
