Propagation Modeling for Wireless Communications

Propagation Modeling for Wireless Communications

This book introduces the various approaches and tools used for modelling different propagation environments and lays the foundation for developing a unified theoretical framework for future integrated communication networks. In the case of each type of network the book uses basic concepts of physics mathematics geometry and probability theory to study the impact of the dimension and shape of the propagation environment and relative transmit-receive position on the information flow. The book provides an introduction into wireless communication systems and networks and their applications. For both systems and networks the basic hard (encoder modulator etc. ) and soft components (information signal etc. ) are discussed through schematic block diagrams. Next each of the modes of communication namely radio waves acoustic waves magnetic induction optical waves biological particles (molecules aerosols neural synapse etc. ) and quantum field are discussed. For each communication scenario presented the impact of different environmental factors on the propagation phenomenon is articulated followed by different channel modelling (deterministic analytical and stochastic) techniques that are used to characterize the propagation environment. Finally future trends in wireless communication networks are examined and envisioned for next generations 6G/7G of communication systems like space information networks sea-to-sky internet of vehicles and internet of bio-nano things. Based on the future trends of integrated networks the book drives the need for a generalized channel model irrespective of the media and mode of information transfer. The Pulse of Sense Encounters with Jean-Luc Nancy

The Pulse of Sense Encounters with Jean-Luc Nancy

This volume stages a series of encounters between the French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy and leading scholars of his work along four major themes of Nancy’s thought: sense experience existence and Christianity. In doing so the volume seeks to remind readers that Nancy’s sens has many meanings in French: aside from those that easily carry over into English i. e. everything to do with meaning and the senses; it also includes the way they are conducted the direction they take the thrust or pulse in which the circulation of sense exists. Faithful to this plural understanding of sens the writings collected here aim to join Jean-Luc Nancy in the process of making-sense that animates his thinking rather than to deliver a definitive summary of his position on any given issue. They are conceived of as notes along the way documenting encounters as moments of (re)direction and recording the pulse of sense that animates them. In that spirit Nancy himself has provided each contribution with an echo in which he in turn responds to each author and thereby continues their mutual encounter. Aside from these echoes this volume includes an original essay in which Nancy reflects upon the international trajectory of his thinking; a trajectory that is to be and undoubtedly will be continued in many different directions across and around the world. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of Angelaki. | The Pulse of Sense Encounters with Jean-Luc Nancy

Heterogenous Computational Intelligence in Internet of Things

Heterogenous Computational Intelligence in Internet of Things

We have seen a sharp increase in the development of data transfer techniques in the networking industry over the past few years. We can see that the photos are assisting clinicians in detecting infection in patients even in the current COVID-19 pandemic condition. With the aid of ML/AI medical imaging such as lung X-rays for COVID-19 infection is crucial in the early detection of many diseases. We also learned that in the COVID-19 scenario both wired and wireless networking are improved for data transfer but have network congestion. An intriguing concept that has the ability to reduce spectrum congestion and continuously offer new network services is providing wireless network virtualization. The degree of virtualization and resource sharing varies between the paradigms. Each paradigm has both technical and non-technical issues that need to be handled before wireless virtualization becomes a common technology. For wireless network virtualization to be successful these issues need careful design and evaluation. Future wireless network architecture must adhere to a number of Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. Virtualization has been extended to wireless networks as well as conventional ones. By enabling multi-tenancy and tailored services with a wider range of carrier frequencies it improves efficiency and utilization. In the IoT environment wireless users are heterogeneous and the network state is dynamic making network control problems extremely difficult to solve as dimensionality and computational complexity keep rising quickly. Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) has been developed by the use of Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) as a potential approach to solve high-dimensional and continuous control issues effectively. Deep Reinforcement Learning techniques provide great potential in IoT edge and SDN scenarios and are used in heterogeneous networks for IoT-based management on the QoS required by each Software Defined Network (SDN) service. While DRL has shown great potential to solve emerging problems in complex wireless network virtualization there are still domain-specific challenges that require further study including the design of adequate DNN architectures with 5G network optimization issues resource discovery and allocation developing intelligent mechanisms that allow the automated and dynamic management of the virtual communications established in the SDNs which is considered as research perspective. | Heterogenous Computational Intelligence in Internet of Things
