The Ferocactus glaucescens is a blue/green bodied cactus with bright yellow spines often 2-3cm long. This cactus grows to 50cm in height and can sometimes can produce an impressive cluster to 80cm across in about 30 years. Each head can be up to 30cm across. They Produce small delicate yellow flowers from the top and centre of the cactus. This Ferocactus is native to north east Mexico. The Mammillaria hahniana is a beautiful globular shaped cactus covered in what appears to be woolly fluff. This is how the plant protects itself from sun in its native home of central Mexico. This is a clump forming and reaches 20-25cm in 10 years. Each head of the plant has a ring of delicate small pink flowers that contracts magnificently with the white spination. The Astrophytum capricorne aureum has a green body with usually 8 ribbed columnar stems. The spination for this plant is very unusual as it has long white wispy spines. This cactus is slow growing, its maximum height is around 40cm tall. This Astrophytum has large yellow trumpet like flowers with a red middle, which appear from the centre growing point of the cactus in the summer months. These flowers can appear when the cactus is of a young age (2-3 years). This cactus is native to northeast Mexico and grows primarily in the desert.
