Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries of Fujisawa is a title that combines a classic visual novel adventure with an arcade-logical match-3 game. During the game we play the role of a student of the Fujisawa Academy, who uses magical powers to unravel the seven secrets of the school.
Story
At the beginning of the game, we choose the gender of our hero who, as a first-grade student, begins his education at the Fujisawa Academy. A seemingly ordinary school hides many secrets that have resulted in the creation of a legend about seven dangerous secrets hidden by the facility. Shortly after starting the first lessons, players join the supernatural research club, whose members are committed to uncovering the truth behind all seven secrets of the Academy. In this mission, we will be helped by the demonic fox with whom we make a pact, receiving the power of Kotodama, i.e. the power of words, allowing us to find the necessary clues. The story of Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries of Fujisawa is divided into seven chapters and offers several different endings.
Gameplay
The gameplay of Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries of Fujisawa is divided into two segments. The first is a classic visual novel, in which we read the next chapters of the story, enriched with static illustrations and portraits of characters. The second is a logical mode that visualizes the powers of Kotodama that we use. When we meet a character who may know something about one of the seven secrets of the school, we transfer him to a magical interrogation room, trying to get the tips and information we need from him. In logical mode, the screen is divided into two parts. On the left is a colorful puzzle. In it, players build combos by connecting at least three bricks of the same color to each other. In this way, we increase the satisfaction rate of our opponent. In order not to lose, we have to fill it to the appropriate level, having a limited number of moves at our disposal. On the right side we see the silhouette of the interrogated hero. Each time we build a combo chain, it loses another piece of its wardrobe, which is a sign that we are getting closer and closer to getting the next clue. After completing the puzzle, we can repeat it many times using the dedicated option in the game menu.
