The Western Front Armies is an add-on to Company of Heroes 2, a second-war strategy game released in 2013. It differs from the previous minor DLC, however, in that it is a standalone expansion that does not require the original version of the game on the disc. Characteristic features of the add-on are also its large size, as well as its intended use only for multiplayer games. As the title suggests, the DLC focuses on the European Western Front of World War II. This is quite a change from the "base" as it was completely focused on the Eastern Front. The "westernization" of the game manifests itself mainly in the addition of two sides to the conflict: US forces and the German Oberkommando, i.e. Nazi units taking part in the battles in Western Europe. Interestingly, however, The Western Front Armies is not a homogeneous whole, as both of these armies were previously sold separately. Each of these two factions received previously unavailable abilities, upgrades, as well as tactical and strategic capabilities, and - most importantly - completely new units (e.g. airborne infantry, Sherman tanks, Sturmtiger and Jagdtiger guns or P-47 planes).
