Mars Horizon is an extensive economic strategy with elements of simulation. In the game, we take control of a selected space agency and join a kind of "space race", the aim of which is to send the first people to the title Red Planet. The production was developed by the independent studio Auroch Digital and was created in cooperation with experts from the European Space Agency (ESA).
We start the fun in Mars Horizon by choosing one of the five space agencies; each of them has unique features, base designs, rockets, spaceships and vehicles used to explore the solar system. If we don't like any of them, there's nothing to prevent us from creating our own from scratch. The game is divided into missions, and the game takes place in turn-based mode. During the game, we have a lot of responsibilities on our shoulders, so it is worth setting priorities as soon as possible so that you do not make a mess later in the game.
The first step on our way to the stars is to build a base that we will expand over time. It should include not only rocket launch pads, but also all kinds of laboratories and training facilities. In addition, we must hire people, including scientists, as well as manual workers and astronauts. As you progress, you should also take care of the development of our company by unlocking new elements from the extensive technology tree. The icing on the cake is the ability to independently design rockets and vehicles, based on components inspired by those from real missions.
Of course, we need a lot of funds for all of this. We earn money by signing contracts and implementing the goals set in them. Individual missions can last for months (especially those that require the development of completely new technologies), and as "time is money", we are often forced to make difficult decisions and face unexpected challenges. Many breakdowns or disasters can be avoided by spending additional weeks on the planning phase.
Although nothing prevents you from doing it all alone, sometimes it is better to cooperate with other space agencies. Although in this case we have to share our earnings with our partners, in return we get access to solutions developed by them. Moreover, such a step allows us to specialize in a specific area, such as research into new technologies, leaving the rest to our partners.
