Shortest Trip to Earth is a combination of a spaceship and roguelike simulator. The goal of the game is to explore the procedurally generated universe aboard a custom-modified ship. Interactive Fate studio is responsible for the production of the title. Iceberg Interactive took on the release.
Gameplay
Shortest Trip to Earth allows you to take control of your own spaceship. The players have at their disposal a number of different units, which can be additionally modified with modular elements. You should also recruit and take care of its crew. While playing, players explore a procedurally generated universe divided into a number of smaller sectors. It is filled with all sorts of aliens, sometimes with tasks for us to do, and sometimes with hostile intentions towards us. Tactical combat takes place in real-time side view, like in FTL, and takes place not only between ships, but also on board ships. The permadeath mechanic has been implemented in Shortest Trip to Earth. After losing a fight, the game ends and you have to start over. Each defeat, however, gives bonuses that make subsequent games easier.
