Homeworld Remastered Collection is a set containing refreshed versions of Homeworld and Homeworld 2 games, i.e. two cult space RTS games by Relic Entertainment studio. The remake was developed by the Gearbox Software team. The first game tells the story of the people known as the Kushan, who for thousands of years developed their own civilization on the desert planet of Kharak. The history of this community consisted mainly of a series of wars fought over a few natural resources. Everything changed with the discovery of the wreckage of a huge spaceship. It had interstellar travel technology and a map leading to the planet called Hiigara, which in the Kushan language means "Home." This discovery united the people of Kharak, and for the next century, society focused on building its own ship based on the solutions found in the wreck. However, a tragedy occurred during the first flight: the ship made a successful hyperspace jump, but at the destination location only discovered a few hostile alien fighters. Thus, 600,000 Kushan, asleep in the ship's hibernation chambers, became the last survivors of the pogrom. There was no point in returning to the destroyed planet, so a decision was made to start the journey towards Hiigara. Homeworld 2 begins 115 years after the events of the first part. The past century has been a period of peace and prosperity for the Kushan race and their new home, the planet Hiigara. The end of that golden age came with the rise of the militant race of the Vaygr, which launched a massive invasion of the Kushan civilization. After a series of battles, it became clear that the people of Hiigara were in a lost position, so they decided to build a mighty Mother Ship that would tip the tide of victory in their favor. Unfortunately, the victorious procession of the enemy reached the shipyard, which was the construction site of this vessel, before the work on it was completed. Therefore, it was decided to take her into space and flee the enemy with the few surviving Hyigarians on board. Homeworld Remastered Collection includes original, non-remastered versions of Homeworld Classic and Homeworld 2 Classic, preserving the purest form of the original releases with compatibility for modern operating systems.
