Heart in Motion compares the development of an ensemble to a tree, which-with careful nurturing-grows branches, twigs, leaves and fruit. As a fertilizer, you need to add an extra helping of positive attitude, enthusiasm and passion to it.Inspired by these images and concepts, Satoshi Yagisawa has composed Heart in Motionwhich, with a magnificent fanfare followed by a warm-sounding chorale, certainly lives up to its name.

Following the melancholy theme of mourning in a minor key we also hear the happy memories in major key and also the knowledge that the person who has gone to ‘a better place’is now at peace. This is a soulful and calm work that leaves plenty of space for the musicians’ and listeners’ own thoughts. This set includes optional parts for piano and vibraphone.

I Will Survive

This classic disco hit was released by Gloria Gaynor in 1978. Following massive airplay it reached number one in pop charts around the world and in 1980 received a Grammy for Best Disco Recording. Since then it has appeared in many films and television programs and has been adopted by many causes such as HIV/AIDS awareness and the campaign for women’s rights. It is also the ‘stadium anthem’ for the Dutch football team Feyenoord. Ensure your audience leaves any concert in an upbeat mood with this disco masterpiece.

The Duke of Albany : Suite for Concert Band

This suite tells the story of John Stewart, the Duke of Albany (the old name for the Kingdom of Scotland) who lived from 1484 to 1536, and of Anne de la Tour, Countess of Auvergne. The first majestic movement is about John Stewart, who leaves for Auvergne in order to marry Anne de la Tour. The second movement begins beautiful and romantic describing the romance between Anne de la Tour and the Duke, followed by sounds of despair and loneliness. The celebratory finale describes the construction of a new chapel and the population dancing and celebrating.

Vidda : Solo for Trumpet and Brass Band

I composed the song "Vidda" after I got my ultimate boy's dream fulfilled; To fly one of the Air Force's F-16 fighter jets! We flew out from Norwegian city Bodø on to the Finnmark plateau, where we flew so-called "low level" (at low altitude). It was such a great experience for me that I immediately wrote the song "Vidda" based on my experience of the trip. Here, I try to describe the meeting between the technical perfection of a machine that surpasses most of the various forces in it’s escape through the magnificent scenery passing at great speed, and the pilot who is alone with both the adventure and responsibility. The drums which start the song is meant to describes theenergy in the power of the plane, while the lonely and kind of melancholy melody from the trumpet in the beginning describes the feelings of the pilot. As the song develop, we pass both the mountains and big beautiful plateaus with g-forces quivering body. Hopefully you will share some of my experiences through this song. Have a nice flight! Ungarische National-melodien and Other Songs : Suppl. 7

This volume contains Liszt's earliest pieces written in a Hungarian style. The complete set of Magyar dallok / Ungarische National-Melodien [Hungarian songs] consisting of 11 items is published here for the first time in a scholarly edition. The composer began to write them resulting from his first return visit to Pest in 1839. The music of these pieces was partly re-used by Liszt at the beginning of the 1850s in his deservedly popular 15 Hungarian Rhapsodies. The Carnival at Pest was inspired by his second tour of Hungary in 1846: it was later re-worked as the 9th Hungarian Rhapsody. The present volume also contains the so far unknown very first version of the 1st HungarianRhapsody, and in addition two large fragments from the 1840s plus a number of album leaves.

On the 200th anniversary of Robert Schumann's birth, an ambitious project is coming to a close: For the first time since Clara Schumann's Complete Edition of 1879?93, all of the works for Piano solo are appearing as one editorial project.Spanning almost ten years of painstaking work, all of the Schumann titles published by G. Vingt-quatre grande études hardcover : and other works

Of this series of twenty-four études planned by Liszt only twelve were actually written, but the contemporary printed editions of the completed pieces (in the hope of a continuation) appeared with the series title '24 grandes études'. By publishing these 12 concert studies it makes the earlier and technically more difficult version of the Transcendental Studies available for the first time since 1911 for study by performers and those engaged in music research. Contrary to the 1911 edition among the volumes of the first complete Liszt edition, NLE will publish also the text variants of some studies, an album leaf in F sharp major in facsimile and in transcription considered asthe 13th study planned by Liszt for the series, and the earlier versions of so-called Mazeppa and Ab irato studies. In the volume will be published the puzzling album leaf, the so-called 'Prélude omnitonique' and some similar album leaves, too.Territorial restrictions may apply. Please ask before ordering.

Harmonies poétiques et religieuses -Early versions : Suppl. 6

In Volume I/9 of the New Liszt Edition the definitive ten-movement version of the piano cycle Harmonies poétiques et religieuses was published in 1981. On several occasions Liszt mentioned that he attached particular importance to this cycle, and this is confirmed by the fact that he devoted almost two decades (1835-1853) to its composition. This Supplement volume of the New Liszt Edition initiates the reader into the mysteries of the cycle's genesis, publishing 17 completed pieces written for it and 6 that have survived as fragments, together with the album leaves belonging to them. The works composed between 1840 and 1848 also reflect the various concepts of the cycle and theprior history of the movements included in the final version, more than one shows Liszt's skill as an improviser. Among the compositions that survive in manuscript there are gems such as the hitherto virtually unknown Piano piece in G flat major, conceived in a moment of unselfconscious happiness.

Trees

The title 'Trees' should be regarded as a metaphor, even though the electronic sounds in the piece are actually derived from trees. The piece is a metaphor of the multifaceted nature of the leaves on the trees the 'united difference' as the trees of the forest, the 'life-giving', as trees, transform CO2 into Oxygen). It is a metaphor of the ever returning and optimistic foliation each spring), and in a broader sense a metaphor of organic nature. The violin concerto is a sounding organism, which in more or less gradual transition appears in different shapes and states of condition. At some points the music is round and flexible, and at others it is edged and hard. Sometimes it might remind us of something well known, and from time to time it changes into something intangible - an indefinite state of nature. In contrast to the sonorous extreme, the solo violin is portrayed as a manifestation of maximum (human) presence.

Rued Langgaard: Collected Songs Vol. 1-3

Collected Songs Vol. 1-3 - by Rued Langgaard , for Voice and Piano. Critical edition by Ole Ugilt Jensen and Bendt Viinholt Nielsen / The Rued Langgaard Edition. Rued Langgaard (1893-1952) is one of the most important Danish composers of the 20th century. He has, however, only acquired this status many years after his death. Langgaard was an eminent musical talent, but with his romantic and symbolist view of art he ended up as an outsider in an era when the trend-setting musical life of the time was permeated by Carl Nielsen's sober and modern attitude. Rued Langgaard's production within the lied genre comprises 125 songs. Half of them were composed in the short span of years between 1914 and 1918, when the composer was in his early twenties. With this publication in three volumes, Langgaard's important and personal contribution to the genre is presented in its entire range. Only 27 of the songs have previously been published. The songs are set to German, Danish and Norwegian poems. The poems in Danish and Norwegian are included in an English translation (though not designed for perform- ance purposes). Each volume is accompanied by an introduction, source descriptions and a critical apparatus in Danish and English. The Rued Langgaard Edition (RLU) was established in 2000, the aim being to present practical, performance-oriented publications of Langgaard's works on a critical scholarly basis. They produced leaflets protesting against the National Socialist government of Germany in 1942-3 until they were arrested and guillotined.?Soar to Heaven? follows two characters, Wu and Zhou, involved on opposite sides of the Cultural Revolution in China.?The Oxford Revolution? tells the story of James Meredith, who fought a lonely battle against segregation and racial prejudice to become the first black student to enrol at ?Ole Miss?, the University of Mississippi, in the USA.Librettist's Note.There are, inevitably and properly, some differences between the original libretto and what Max ultimately set to music. Most of these are insignificant, but all the Latin texts in the opera were added by Max, and texts for the alternating black / white choruses (Scene 19) and final chorus (Scene 28) were written by him.
