Byen fra skyen er en fotografisk kærlighedserklæring til København. Nicolas Cosedis har i mange år fotograferet København fra luften. Byen fra skyen indeholder de bedste af Nicolas Cosedis’ fotografier. Svævende i en flyver højt over byens tage, viser han os det København, som ellers kun fuglene ser. Hvis vi troede, at vi kendte byen bedre end vores egen bukselomme, så viser Nicolas os, at vi tog grueligt fejl. Fotografierne ledsages af ord fra arkitekturkritiker Holger Dahl, der med sin indgående viden om byen og dens arkitektur udfolder Nicolas’ fotografier. Hver bydel har sit eget kapitel, så bogen er som en rejse rundt i byen fra Østerbro, Nørrebro og Vesterbro med ture til Frederiksberg og Amager og afstikkere til de nordlige forstæder. Nicolas Cosedis er fotograf med base i København. Han er selvlært og har fotograferet byer, landskaber, mennesker og gader. I de seneste år har han udelukkende fotograferet fra luften. Nicolas driver sit eget galleri og har mere end 60.000 følgere på Instagram-profilen @copenhagenbycosedis. Holger Dahl er uddannet arkitekt og er arkitekturredaktør på Berlingske Tidende, hvor han blandt andet skriver klummen ’Københavnersnuden’.
