Metallurgical Design of Flat Rolled Steels - Vladimir B. Ginzburg - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

This book outlines the basic principles of metallurgical design of flat rolled steels to obtain flat steel products with required metallurgical and mechanical properties. These principles establish the requirements for steel chemical composition and the process parameters, including steelmaking, reheating, hot rolling, annealing and cold rolling. Metallurgical Design of Flat Rolled Steels reviews the current theories and experimental works conducted in this area, and gives a comparative analysis of the obtained results in application to a large variety of steels produced around the world. This guide presents essential material in a fashion that permits rapid application to practical problems while providing the structure and understanding necessary for long-term growth. It first explains how the components fit and work together to make a successful experimental design, then analyzes each component in detail, presenting the various approaches in the form of menus of different strategies and options. Then the text illustrates equations developed by various researchers and compares them in both table and graphic forms. Written in a clear and concise manner, the material is presented using a modular or "building block" approach so readers get to see how the entire structure fits together and learn the essential techniques and terminology necessary to develop more complex designs and analyses.

Schools Of Art - - Bog - Trolley Books - Plusbog.dk

A photographic survey of UK schools of art by artist Matthew Cornford and writer John Beck. Contemporary colour photographs of these often architecturally significant buildings are accompanied by captions detailing each art school’s history. Cumulatively they reveal the changes undergone by many of these vital institutions and offer a reflection on the state of art education today. Artist Matthew Cornford and writer John Beck studied at art school in Great Yarmouth in the early 1980s. Three decades later they found the building boarded up and for sale. Was the closure of this art school of simply local significance, they wondered, or part of a broader story about the changing place of art and art education in the country? Combining fieldwork and archival digging, over the last ten years the pair have explored the towns and cities of the United Kingdom, building a photographic record of each art school building, or the site upon which it stood, and compiling a capsule history of each institution. Cumulatively, the images are a reminder of quite how many art schools there were in the UK, with over 150 still in operation as recently as the 1960s. As contemporary photographs, the images also speak to a complex and varied history of amalgamations, closures, renovations, demolitions and shifting priorities in art education and beyond. Schools Of Art is a selection of 75 photographs and captions from Beck and Cornford’s ongoing survey, covering the celebrated and the forgotten, the repurposed and the dismantled institutions that fuelled and shaped the creative life of the UK for over a hundred and fifty years. Among the questions raised by this work are fundamental ones regarding the value and significance of arts education and its contribution to the health and prosperity of our towns and cities.

Zoltar The Magnificent - Kieron Livingstone - Bog - Trolley Books - Plusbog.dk

Zoltar The Magnificent - Kieron Livingstone - Bog - Trolley Books - Plusbog.dk

Zoltar The Magnificent was formed in 2002 in London’s Soho. A clothing store and book shop, an installation and an art gallery, since then it has existed as both a widely acclaimed international fashion label, as well as an underground artistic collaborator. Fusing both fashion and art, they continue to infiltrate creative institutions, rupturing expectations of visual culture. To celebrate ten years of guerrilla activity Zoltar have created their first comprehensive collection of complete works to date; a cardinal silkbound, gold-embossed book, echoing the craft and design of ancient religious texts, documenting the continued machinations of this art, fashion and design house. Zoltar has produced many notable collaborations, including a major film commission by Nike in 2010 for their World Cup teams, another with actor Rhys Ifans, and lending their trademark style to the windows in Selfridges to curating Frank 151 magazine, and working with artists from famed photographer Mick Rock to New York surrealist painter Robert Hawkins. The Zoltar clothing range, designed by Macmillan and Livingstone, has also been fuelled by collaborations with notable designers Bella Freud and Anita Pallenberg. Never conforming and consistently innovating Zoltar’s attempts at cultural terrorism continue to dominate. Confrontational, combative and cutting-edge; Zoltar is in many ways really quite magnificent. “Zoltar was born bastard child of acid house and punk rock. A molotov cocktail of art, film and clothing. One Part social comment and One part sartorial excellence…..Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” - Dan Macmillan, Project Zoltar.

Werner Bischof: Questions To My Father - Werner Bischof - Bog - Trolley Books - Plusbog.dk

Werner Bischof: Questions To My Father - Werner Bischof - Bog - Trolley Books - Plusbog.dk

Werner Bischof was a singular post-war photographer. His focus on showing the poverty and despair around him in Europe was tempered with a desire to travel the world, and convey the beauty and humanity waiting to be discovered through his lens. Tragically his inspirational life was cut short by a car accident in Peru, but his legacy lives on, and here his son Marco presents 70 of his father's photographs, never before published. In 1916, with the Great War reducing northern Europe to a treeless, shattered void, a boy was born to the prosperous director of a pharmaceutical firm in Zurich. He was named Werner. It was not an auspicious time to be born and, indeed, his mother died soon after. As a child, young Werner sought order in his life by dissecting snails and photographing, in the limpid light of his creation, the elegant whorls revealed. He did not become the physical training instructor (a compromise) his father wanted him to be. He did not become the painter he had once wanted to be in Paris in 1939, on the brink of another devastating conflict. He became Werner Bischof, the man, and a photographer of incalculable artistry who found in both order and the chaos he confronted and experienced a sublime beauty, a humanity that was singularly his own. His photographs of the post-war Europe in poverty and despair expressed infinite hope for the human condition; yet he was only 29. Less than 10 years later he was dead, leaving behind among his last photographs that of a Peruvian child playing his flute on the edge of a ravine. It is now an iconic photograph, and has a fatal allure. Bischof died when his jeep plunged over a ravine in the Andes on a quest for the faces, the lives, of harmony there. Fifty years later his son Marco has gathered together 70 previously unpublished photographs by Werner Bischof. They powerfully reiterate the man his father was, the nature of his humanity and his search for a benign and beautiful cognisance of the brief and terrifying world he lived in.
