HAY - - Bog - Phaidon Press Ltd - Plusbog.dk

Welcome to HAY''s universe of irresistible, affordable, everyday design. ''HAY is destined to be an important part of the modern design canon - not as the result of design theory or design thinking, but as a result of design doing.'' - John Hoke III, Chief Design Officer, Nike In 2002, husband and wife Rolf and Mette Hay founded their namesake company and forever changed how the world perceives Scandinavian design. Born from the duo''s desire to make outstanding design available to all, HAY reimagines functional objects, turning couches, cutting boards, towels, and toothbrushes into vibrant items that bring joy to one''s daily life. Simple, stylish, and affordable, HAY''s furniture and accessories are a seamless blend of quality and economy. The brand''s deep connections within the art, food, fashion, and broader cultural communities, as well as its exuberant use of colour - icy pastels, Memphis primary colours, rich jewel tones, and vivid near-neons - ensure HAY''s best-selling products including the Mags Sofa, Matin Lamp, About A Chair, Palissade Collection, and Sowden Accessories Collection remain one step ahead of the zeitgeist. Published to coincide with the brand''s 20th anniversary, this inspiring visual monograph explores HAY''s origins and astronomical trajectory, including its close partnership with Herman Miller; its collaborations with an ever-growing stable of brilliant designers, along with design companies such as COS, IKEA, and SONOS; and the aesthetic alchemy that makes HAY''s products and retail environments so distinct. The book features exclusive interviews with five pairs of designers: Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec; Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien; Shane Schneck and Clara von Zweigbergk (who also designed the book); Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen; and Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi. Beautifully illustrated with 600 colour images, HAY also includes an introduction by Kelsey Keith, the editorial director at Herman Miller, and contributions from Lucy Bourton, Duncan Riches, Emily Nathan and Tom Morris.

Lamb at the Altar - Deborah Hay - Bog - Duke University Press - Plusbog.dk

"The intention of my work is to dislodge assumptions about the fixity of the three-dimensional body."—Deborah HayHer movements are uncharacteristic, her words subversive, her dances unlike anything done before—and this is the story of how it all works. A founding member of the famed Judson Dance Theater and a past performer in the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Deborah Hay is well known for choreographing works using large groups of trained and untrained dancers whose surprising combinations test the limits of the art. Lamb at the Altar is Hay’s account of a four-month seminar on movement and performance held in Austin, Texas, in 1991. There, forty-four trained and untrained dancers became the human laboratory for Hay’s creation of the dance Lamb, lamb, lamb . . . , a work that she later distilled into an evening-length solo piece, Lamb at the Altar. In her book, in part a reflection on her life as a dancer and choreographer, Hay tells how this dance came to be. She includes a movement libretto (a prose dance score) and numerous photographs by Phyllis Liedeker documenting the dance’s four-month emergence. In an original style that has marked her teaching and writing, Hay describes her thoughts as the dance progresses, commenting on the process and on the work itself, and ultimately creating a remarkable document on the movements—precise and mysterious, mental and physical—that go into the making of a dance. Having replaced traditional movement technique with a form she calls a performance meditation practice, Hay describes how dance is enlivened, as is each living moment, by the perception of dying and then involves a freeing of this perception from emotional, psychological, clinical, and cultural attitudes into movement. Lamb at the Altar tells the story of this process as specifically practiced in the creation of a single piece.

UML & Data Modeling - David C. Hay - Bog - Technics Publications LLC - Plusbog.dk

UML & Data Modeling - David C. Hay - Bog - Technics Publications LLC - Plusbog.dk

Here you will learn how to develop an attractive, easily readable, conceptual, business-oriented entity/relationship model, using a variation on the UML Class Model notation. This book has two audiences: Data modellers (both analysts and database designers) who are convinced that UML has nothing to do with them; and UML experts who don''t realise that architectural data modelling really is different from object modelling (and that the differences are important). David Hay''s objective is to finally bring these two groups together in peace. Here all modellers will receive guidance on how to produce a high quality (that is, readable) entity/relationship model to describe the data architecture of an organisation. The notation involved happens to be the one for class models in the Unified Modelling Language, even though UML was originally developed to support object-oriented design. Designers have a different view of the world from those who develop business-oriented conceptual data models, which means that to use UML for architectural modelling requires some adjustments. These adjustments are described in this book. David Hay is the author of "Enterprise Model Patterns: Describing the World", a comprehensive model of a generic enterprise. The diagrams were at various levels of abstraction, and they were all rendered in the slightly modified version of UML Class Diagrams presented here. This book is a handbook to describe how to build models such as these. By way of background, an appendix provides a history of the two groups, revealing the sources of their different attitudes towards the system development process.

The Hay Archive of Coptic Spells on Leather - - Bog - British Museum Press - Plusbog.dk

The Hay Archive of Coptic Spells on Leather - - Bog - British Museum Press - Plusbog.dk

The Hay archive of Coptic manuscripts consists of seven fragmentary sheets of leather bearing spells for divination, protection, healing, personal advancement, cursing and the satisfaction of sexual desire. Purchased from the heir of the Scottish Egyptologist and draughtsman, Robert Hay (1799–1863), the manuscripts arrived at the British Museum in 1868. Since they were first published in the 1930s, they were understood to be the work of a single copyist writing around AD 600 in the Theban region of Upper Egypt. The present volume has confirmed, nuanced or challenged these assessments on the basis of scientific analysis and close study of the manuscripts. Prompted by the urgent conservation needs of the corpus, this study seeks to provide a model, integrated approach to the publication of ancient texts as archaeological objects by providing a full record of provenance and collection history; scientific analysis; conservation approach and treatment; a new complete edition and translation of the Coptic texts; and an extended discussion of the cultural context of production. Written on poorly processed calf, sheep and goat skin, the manuscripts were copied by multiple non-professional writers in the 8th–9th centuries. Employing a striking combination of ancient Egyptian, Graeco-Roman, biblical and extra-biblical motifs, their contents represent a Christian milieu making use of the mechanics of earlier ‘magical’ practice in a period well after the arrival of Islam.

The Law of the United States - Peter Hay - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

The Law of the United States offers an introduction and overview of the American legal system. With an emphasis throughout on up-to-date case law and current literature, it is an ideal first point of entry for students and practitioners alike, and a starting point for further independent research. Professor Hay provides a concise and straightforward explanation of the law and legal vocabulary, as well as an introduction to the different types of law and legal techniques. He explains the role of Congress, the Executive and the Courts, and clarifies the mechanisms behind the branches of public and private law in the United States. He introduces the reader to the complexities of federal and state law, emphasizing that the many areas of public law and virtually all areas of private law are the separate law of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and the (U.S.-dependent) Territories in which common language, legal tradition, and culture have served to bring about a basic legal unity. Several private law areas (contract law, torts, family law, succession) receive detailed treatment, as do criminal law and procedure. The book provides detailed references to legislation, case law, and the literature, up-to-date through early 2016. Four appendices present a detailed case study with commentary to aid the civil law reader in understanding of the case law system; the text of the U.S. Constitution (referred to in several contexts throughout the book); a geographic map of the U.S. federal court system; and information on the Legal Profession in the United States.

Experimenting on a Small Planet - William W. Hay - Bog - Springer Nature Switzerland AG - Plusbog.dk

Experimenting on a Small Planet - William W. Hay - Bog - Springer Nature Switzerland AG - Plusbog.dk

This book is a thorough introduction to climate science and global change. The author is a geologist who has spent much of his life investigating the climate of Earth from a time when it was warm and dinosaurs roamed the land, to today''s changing climate. Bill Hay takes you on a journey to understand how the climate system works. He explores how humans are unintentionally conducting a grand uncontrolled experiment which is leading to unanticipated changes. We follow the twisting path of seemingly unrelated discoveries in physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and even mathematics to learn how they led to our present knowledge of how our planet works. He explains why the weather is becoming increasingly chaotic as our planet warms at a rate far faster than at any time in its geologic past. He speculates on possible future outcomes, and suggests that nature itself may make some unexpected course corrections. Although the book is written for the layman with little knowledge of science or mathematics, it includes information from many diverse fields to provide even those actively working in the field of climatology with a broader view of this developing drama. Experimenting on a Small Planet is a must read for anyone having more than a casual interest in global warming and climate change - one of the most important and challenging issues of our time. This new edition includes actual data from climate science into 2021. Numerous Powerpoint slides can be downloaded to allow lecturers and teachers to more effectively use the book as a basis for climate change education.
