Der Möbelentwickler und Produktdesigner hat unzählige Gegenstände des Alltags entworfen, seine Stühle haben enorm hohe Auflagen erreicht, kurzum, Gerd Lange hat die Designgeschichte der Bundesrepublik der 7 er und 8 er Jahre entscheidend geprägt. Nach einer Schreinerlehre hat der Designer an der Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach studiert und 9 sein eigenes Designstudio im pfälzischen Kapsweyer gegründet. Bereits 9 8 entwarf er einen stapelbaren Stuhl aus einer Polyamidschale und Stahlrohrbeinen, der über 45 Jahre in einer Millionenauflage produziert wurde. Der schlichte Zweckstuhl mit dem lapidaren Namen „SM 4 K" erhielt den Bundespreis für Arbeitsstühle, den amerikanischen Design-Award und den Industrieform-Preis der Hannovermesse. Er steht heute im Guggenheim-Museum und im Rockefeller-Center in New York. 973 kreierte Lange den ersten Kunststoffstuhl mit Holzbeinen, der von Thonet hergestellt wurde. Der Designer und Autor Alfred Hablützel, ein profunder Kenner der Arbeiten Gerd Langes, legt mit dieser Publikation die erste Monografie zu Gerd Lange Design vor, die die wichtigsten Entwürfe in Text und Bild vorstellt.

Philip de Lange, en ung murermester, indvandrede til København fra Haag i 1729. Philip de Lange vendte aldrig tilbage til sit hjemland. Han blev i Danmark, hvor han hurtigt opbyggede en strålende karriere som en af tidens mest benyttede bygmestre. Det lykkedes ham at skabe gode forbindelser til især Søetaten og Admiralitetet, og det er da også hans bygninger på Holmen, som vi kender ham fra: Arsenalet, Hovedvagten, Mastekranen. Men Philip de Lange byggede også Asiatisk Kompagnis imposante hovedkvarter på Christianshavn foruden en stribe byhuse for borgerskabet og en enkelt herregård –Glorup på Fyn. Philip de Lange satte sit tydelige præg på den danske bygningskultur. Han bragte en international arkitektur til hovedstaden, som stadig står den dag i dag og minder os om, at vi er en del af verden. Vera Noldus, f. 1970 i Nederlandene, er uddannet cand.mag. og ph.d. i kulturarvsstudier og arkitekturhistorie fra universiteterne i Amsterdam og Utrecht, suppleret med en efteruddannelse i renovering fra Akademisk Arkitektforening.
