Juleaften 1980 findes en smuk, ung kvinde død på et hotel i den norske provinsby Lillehammer. Pigen kommer ikke fra de kanter, og ingen aner, hvem hun er. Om Jonas, der forsøger at undslippe sin fars kvælende forventninger, og Carolina, som flygtede til det fjerne Danmark fra diktaturet i hjemlandet Paraguay. 18 år senere tager Jonas, der nu bor i Burma, sammen med sin datter tilbage til Skandinavien for at gense, hvor det alt sammen skete. Min ven Jonas er en roman om ungdom, venskab, flugt og om troen på at kunne gøre en forskel i en kompliceret verden. Jens Lindberg , f. 1983, arbejder med sårbare grupper og har tidligere boet i Asien og Norge. Min ven Jonas er hans debutroman.
