Albert Hay Malotte: The Lord's Prayer
Albert Hay Malotte's setting of The Lord's Prayer has been arranged for Voice and Guitar. Albert H. Malotte (1895-1964) was an American composer, pianist, and educator. Although he wrote the scores for several popular Disney films, he is best remembered for his 1935 setting of The Lord’s Prayer , which has been recorded by John Charles Thomas, Doris Day, Gracie Fields, Elvis Presley, Susan Boyle, and many, many others. It is often said to draw inspiration from Schubert’s Ave Maria , as the melody is very similar, but there is little evidence that the composer intended it that way. It remains very popular for use at weddings and in church services, especially in the United States.
