No. 3 in the three movement work Nativity Suite (each movement published separately), in this setting of the traditional 16th century poem, the instruments express the sentiment that animates the choir's words in ways that voices are incapable of doing. The repeated alleluias at the close of each verse are resounding exclamations of joy, with harmonies made up of as many as eleven voice parts.

Arr. Ryan Nowlin: Shenandoah

Here, Ryan Nowlin has set the American folk classic for SATB choir. The plaintive melody and the many varied sets of lyrics this much-loved song has inspired over the years express a wistful love and longing, sometimes for a person and sometimes for a place, but always for what must be left behind. This setting, with Cello, reminds us of the beauty and wildness of the American frontier and awakens in the listener all it means to yearn for home.

Dale Warland Choral Series: The Voices

The poetry used in this setting of The Voices was presented to Dale Warland on the occasion of his final concert with the Dale Warland Singers by his friend, the poet Michael Dennis Browne. Warland writes, “The art of choral singing has given my life great meaning and I hope to express that fulfillment through this music for mixed chorus and solo cello.” The Cello plays a leading role in the work, composed for a 2013 commission consortium of 23 choirs as a gift to Chorus America.

David Archer: Who Has Seen The Wind?

The words of Christina Rossetti 's poem Who Has Seen The Wind? are simple, yet spiritually profound. They speak of placing trust in the unknowable, and of appreciating the miracle of our existence: ' Who has seen the wind? Neither I nor you: But when the leaves hang trembling, The wind is passing through. ' In this setting for SATB choir by David Archer the music is lyrical and contrapuntal with wide dynamic contrast. This beautifully poignant piece offers plenty of moments for your singers to express their individual musicianship. Franz Schubert: Military March Op.51 No. 1 (Piano Duet)

Schubert?s Op. 51 is comprised of three Military Marches, the first of these being one of the more popular pieces for piano four hands. It is has an instantly catchy theme, an infectious sense of exuberance and Schubert?s characteristic quirkiness. This theme is hardly militaristic, more a exagereted depiction of a soldier's march in its stiffness, prim jollity and pomp. Some may hear it as a comic or satirical creation but Schubert was intending to express a more festive picture of a military march, much like one in a parade. This exuberant piece is immense fun to play and a must have for Piano Duet players! Arranged for four-hands at the piano and edited by Louis Oesterle.
