As was the case with the original, the FireFly Studios team is responsible for creating this real-time strategy. In Stronghold 2: Steam Edition, the player takes on the role of the manager of a medieval stronghold. Its task is not only to expand, defend and besiege the eponymous fortresses, but also to take care of the technological and economic facilities and to deploy the most numerous and diverse armies possible. There are almost one hundred and forty different types of buildings and about twenty production chains in the game - it is based on them, and using various raw materials, that we produce the necessary equipment for our subjects and food. The need to keep the fortress clean also plays an important role, as this way it is possible to avoid various plagues; it is worth remembering about maintaining an appropriate level of satisfaction of the subjects by taking care of their needs and balancing the taxes imposed on them. As for the military aspects - the key to success in large-scale skirmishes is the skillful use of the strengths of each of the twenty-four types of units, as well as making proper use of special formations. The pillar of Stronghold 2: Steam Edition on the PC platform are two campaigns focused on different aspects of the gameplay - while the first focuses on military issues, the second focuses on economy. In addition, the authors give us the sandbox mode (where we play the role of the master of the castle without having to perform pre-imposed tasks), as well as two multiplayer modes (Deathmatch and Kingmaker), in which, thanks to integration with the Steam platform, up to eight players can play players.
