During the game, we play the role of a hero working in a TV studio as a cleaner. As a result of an unexpected twist of events, the protagonist joins the National Nightly News team. From now on, it will be him who will decide what message is to come from the TV news, and thus - influence the public opinion. It depends on the choices we make whether the station is censored or decides to publicize the truth (usually sad or at least controversial). In Not For Broadcast, we observe the action from the first person perspective (FPP). During the game, we sit at the professional editorial equipment, which we operate, using various switches ourselves, inserting cassettes into VCRs and observing the effects of our actions on cathode ray tube screens. Everything related to the functioning of television news rests on our shoulders. So we primarily deal with the selection of topics, and we also decide how they will be presented - we choose the content of information bars and camera shots, or we decide on the censorship of curses (or content undesirable by the "top"). We also have to spend some airtime on advertisements (which we select ourselves, of course), because the income from their broadcast is added to our bank account.

So we are forced to do almost everything with our own hands, although at the same time it is also necessary to regularly make business decisions. Merely burying the dead is not very profitable, and the costs are starting to increase rapidly. We are forced to look for valuable resources, from which we construct useful items and improve the cemetery. The most profitable, but also the most dangerous trips to the dungeons full of monsters. The player also has the option of using many alternative methods to increase income. We can, among others assist the Inquisition in organizing witch burning fests at the stake, and partner with the local church to conduct weekly services. The authors also took care to offer a lot of freedom when taking care of cost optimization.
