Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation is a PC add-on to the real-time strategy game Ashes of the Singularity. It is a standalone expansion which means it does not require the base game to be installed. Both productions were developed by Stardock studio, i.e. the authors of, among others Elemental: Fallen Enchantress, Sorcerer King, and the Galactic Civilizations series. The expansion offers two new story campaigns. The first one was entitled Memories and allows you to lead the Substrate faction and look at the conflict from the perspective of an artificial intelligence known as Haalee. The second, called Escalation, places us as the commander of the PHC (Post-Human Coalition) forces that used to work with Haalee and now become enemies of the AI. Both factions have already appeared in the base version of Ashes of the Singularity, but in Escalation they have been solidly buffed with many new units. The list of planet types has also been extended, thanks to which we fight battles, among others lava-covered maps and crystal maps. The selection of structures was also enriched, among which we can now find, among others watchtowers and flying craft factories. In addition, we can summon useful items and machines from orbit. Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation also offers much larger, yet more diverse maps. The limit of players in multiplayer has been raised from eight to sixteen people, so the scale of the battles is enormous. To help us get to grips with the situation, the authors have prepared a new strategic view, showing the entire battlefield. Apart from these changes and novelties, the gameplay is identical to that in Ashes of the Singularity. So we get a classic RTS, in which we gather resources, build bases and fight battles in real time.
