The entire wooden frame of the Smoke chair has been burned off with fire to create the very special pattern in the wood, which can only be achieved by burning it. Although the chair has been burned in the manufacturing process, it has been treated with epoxy resin that frames and preserves the beautiful details that occur during the burning of the chair. The treatment also helps to strengthen the chair and make it impossible for the burnt wood to rub off on clothes or the like.
